As Rockingham County Public Schools (RCPS) prepares to welcome students back for the 2026-2027 school year, Food and Nutrition Services is reminding families about important information regarding meal applications, payments, menus, and pricing.
Free and Reduced-Price Meal Applications
Free and reduced-price meal applications are now available for the 2026-2027 school year. Families can complete an application online at MySchoolApps. Paper applications will also be available at each school.
To receive free or reduced-price meals at RCPS schools, families must submit a new application each school year unless they qualify automatically through participation in certain programs, such as SNAP. Families who automatically qualify will receive notification by mail before the start of the school year.
Families whose children qualified through an application in a previous school year should remember that eligibility does not automatically carry over for the entire new school year. A new application is needed each year, so families are encouraged to apply early.
Meal Prices and Payments
For the 2026-2027 school year, student breakfast will cost $2.00 and student lunch will cost $3.25.
Families can add money to student meal accounts online through MySchoolBucks. Payments may also be made by cash or check at a student’s school. Cash or check payments should be sent in an envelope labeled with the student’s name, grade and PIN number.
Menus and Additional Information
School menus are published monthly by individual schools and are also available through the RCPS Food and Nutrition Services website.
Families are also encouraged to review the district’s meal and à la carte guidelines and pricing information for the new school year, including changes to elementary à la carte, or “extras,” purchases.
