The first day of school is just around the corner, and Rockingham County Public Schools is excited to partner with the United Way of Central Shenandoah Valley to help students start the 2026–2027 school year prepared for success.
Tools for School is Harrisonburg and Rockingham County's premier back-to-school resource fair, bringing together free school supplies, health services, and community resources—all in one convenient location.

What You'll Find at Tools for School
Free School Supplies
Pre-registered students will receive a backpack filled with essential school supplies to help them begin the school year ready to learn.
Community Resources
Connect with local organizations that provide valuable programs and services for children and families throughout the year.
Health and Wellness Services
Families can access health resources and connect with community partners. Vaccines and school physicals will also be available during the event.
A Community Making a Difference
Last year, 557 families attended Tools for School. Together, our community distributed 1,813 backpacks filled with school supplies while also providing families with health services, haircuts, and connections to valuable local resources.
