This spring, students across Rockingham County are bringing beloved musicals to life on stages throughout our school division. These productions represent months of dedication, creativity, and collaboration, involving hundreds of students and dozens of staff members. From classic Broadway shows to vibrant youth productions, our spring musical season showcases the incredible talent and hard work of RCPS students.

The Sound of Music

Broadway High School

The Sound of Music tells the story of the von Trapp family and their journey of courage, love, and music in Austria on the eve of World War II. Featuring iconic songs and a powerful message, this classic musical highlights vocal performance, storytelling, and ensemble work.

Seussical the Musical

East Rockingham High School

Seussical the Musical brings Dr. Seuss's beloved characters to life in a colorful, energetic celebration of imagination and kindness. Students showcase expressive acting, dance, and character work while delivering a message about standing up for others and believing in yourself.

Anything Goes

Spotswood High School

Anything Goes is a fast-paced musical comedy set aboard a cruise ship, filled with mistaken identities, tap dancing, and classic Broadway style. This production gives students opportunities to shine in advanced choreography, comedic timing, and period performance.

Disney's Dare to Dream Junior

Disney's Dare to Dream JR. is a musical revue that follows a group of enthusiastic trainees on their first day at a fictional Disney Imagineering Studio. Featuring music from The Princess and the Frog, Coco, Encanto, and Frozen II, this production gives students opportunities to showcase ensemble singing, movement, and storytelling as they explore the idea that dreams can inspire, connect, and empower individuals to achieve their goals.

The Little Mermaid

Turner Ashby High School

The Little Mermaid tells the story of Ariel, a curious young mermaid who dreams of discovering life beyond the sea and finding where she truly belongs. Students bring this vibrant underwater world to life through expressive acting, singing, movement, and creative technical theater elements, highlighting themes of identity, courage, and using one's voice.

Alice in Wonderland Junior

Alice in Wonderland, Jr. takes audiences on a whimsical journey into a world filled with curiosity, imagination, and unexpected encounters. This production provides a wide range of performance opportunities, allowing a large ensemble of students to explore character development, movement, and expressive storytelling while working together to bring this imaginative world to life.

The SpongeBob Musical, Youth Edition

The SpongeBob Musical, Youth Edition is a lively, high-energy production set in the colorful world of Bikini Bottom. As SpongeBob and his friends work together to face an unexpected challenge, the story highlights the importance of teamwork, optimism, and creative problem-solving through upbeat music, expressive movement, and humor.
