Nearly 70 students represent RCPS at Technosphere 2025, bringing home trophies, top-ten finishes, and leadership recognition

Rockingham County Public Schools proudly congratulates the students from Broadway High School, Spotswood High School, Turner Ashby High School, Montevideo Middle School, and East Rockingham High School who participated in the Virginia TSA State Conference, known as Technosphere, held May 1–4. Nearly 70 students represented RCPS at the conference, showcasing their creativity, collaboration, and technical skill in statewide competitions.

Turner Ashby High School (TAHS)
TAHS students earned six top-ten finishes, including two 3rd Place trophies in Debating Technological Issues and Systems Control. Events also included Board Game Design, Biotechnology, Structural Engineering, and Technology Bowl. Two students, Jathan Blankenship and Claira Venuto, ran for Virginia TSA State Office positions, demonstrating their leadership beyond the competition floor.

Montevideo Middle School (MMS)
MMS students earned five top-ten finishes, including an impressive 2nd Place in Technology Problem Solving. Their strong showing highlights the district’s commitment to early STEM engagement.

Broadway High School (BHS)
BHS TSA members excelled in a wide range of events, with top-ten finishes in Children’s Stories, Drone Challenge, Manufacturing Prototype (two teams), STEM Mass Media, System Control, Transportation Modeling, and Video Game Design. The team earned a 2nd Place trophy in On-Demand Video. BHS Chapter President Clara Denman was honored as a nominee for the prestigious Virginia TSA President’s Award for her service as Valley TSA Region Reporter.

Spotswood High School (SHS)
SHS TSA members earned thirteen top-ten finishes at the state conference. Highlights included 1st place awards in Fashion Design and Geospatial Technology, along with 1st and 3rd place finishes in Structural Engineering. The team also brought home 2nd place in Technology Problem Solving and 3rd place in Manufacturing Prototyping. In addition to their competitive success, SHS was represented in the Virginia TSA State Officer elections by Omar Mahmood, who ran for Parliamentarian, and Mateo Mousa, who ran for Sergeant-at-Arms.

East Rockingham High School (ERHS)
While full results from ERHS were not received, we celebrate their participation in the conference and acknowledge their achievement of several top-ten placements.
