A Note from Mrs. Woodward
I love this time of year with the cooler temperatures and beautiful fall colors. I also like October because I teach students about always being kind to prevent bullying. I hope students will tell you that kindness matters at Pleasant Valley.
In 5th grade, we will be learning about Massanutten Technical Center to prepare for our field trip in the afternoon. Fifth-grade teachers will send home a permission slip soon. Additionally, we will talk about good citizenship as we begin preparing for our Veterans Day assembly in November.

Elementary Grades
Have you checked your child's progress? Take five minutes this week:
- CHECK grades
- LOOK for missing work
- TALK with your child
- ASK the teacher about concerns
The grading period is ending soon. Take a few minutes to check your child's progress. Look at grades and missing work together. If you have a question or concern, contact your child's teacher. You don't have to wait for the report card.

Traffic Pattern at PVES
Vehicles planning to park in the PVES front parking lot may enter through the upper entrance on Early Road. Please stop at the stop sign and obey traffic laws and school staff directing traffic.
Morning Drop-Off
- Enter through the lower entrance as usual and pull up to the stop sign at the corner to allow more cars to unload.
- After drop-off, traffic will be directed to turn left onto the new exit. If that route becomes backed up, traffic will be directed to use the exit onto Pleasant Valley Road.
- Please remain in your vehicle. If your child needs help unbuckling, stop safely or teach your child to unbuckle independently.
Afternoon Pick-Up
- Continue forming a lane on the right side of the driveway leading to PVES from the lower entrance off Early Road.
- Do not block the space between the cones at the rear of the school until instructed to pull forward after alternate school transportation vehicles have left.
- An orange cone behind the last car in the right lane indicates that the lane is full. Once the cone is placed, form or join the left lane. Do not start a left lane until instructed.
- Traffic will be directed to turn left onto the new exit after pick-up. If that route becomes backed up, traffic will be directed to use the exit onto Pleasant Valley Road.
- Please remain in your vehicle during drop-off and pick-up.
