It’s May Already?!
May is full of fun and end of the year activities for students. Testing season also is during the month of May, so keeping the balance of fun and work can be a challenge. Conversations with your student are helpful during this time to keep consistent expectations and to help maintain that balance for students to be successful. We also encourage you to celebrate your child’s efforts, both big and small. Recognizing responsibility, kindness, and perseverance helps motivate students to keep pushing forward during this busy time of year. Thank you for your continued support and partnership as we work together to make May a successful and memorable month for all students! Please take the time to review SOL dates below to ensure your student is set up for success!

209 MES students had perfect attendance last week!! Awesome number! Students will receive rewards this coming week.
America is Turning 250 years old! Teachers will be speaking about this in class and encouraging students to participate.
SOL Test Dates:
Tuesday, May 5- 4th & 5th Grade Reading Tests
Tuesday, May 12- 3rd Grade Reading; 4th Grade Virginia Studies; 5th Grade Math
Tuesday, May 19- 3rd & 4th Grade Math; 5th Grade Science
NOTE:Certain students may test on alternate days due to small group testing and the availability of rooms
Back for its eleventh year, the Virginia Lottery’s Thank a Teacher campaign encourages you to say “thanks” to your favorite K-12 public school teachers.
Now through May 8, send virtual thank-you notes to the K-12 public school teachers in your life, and they could win $2,500 from the Virginia Lottery and its partners at Brightstar and NPi. Additionally, the winning teacher’s school will receive $2,500 in supplies from The Supply Room!
