This survey course will explore American history from the Age of Discovery to the present. Students will examine central themes such as state vs. national authority, the role of government, and the evolution of civil rights and race relations. Students will develop skills in writing and critical thinking through primary resource analysis and various research projects. VA/US History is a required course for all 11th grade students. Standard, Honors, and AP versions of this course are available. Only students who require a verified credit in Social Studies will take the end-of-course SOL test.
