Information about Second Grade Social Studies program at RCPS

Second grade introduces students to the heritage and contributions of the people of ancient China and Egypt and of the American Indians, past and present. Students will continue to develop map skills and demonstrate basic economic concepts that were learned in previous grades. Students will also identify a number of famous Americans who have worked to improve the lives of fellow citizens. Finally, students will learn that the United States is a land of people who have diverse ethnic origins, customs, and traditions, who make contributions to their communities, and who are united as Americans by common principles.
