Information about the Second Grade science program at RCPS

Second grade science continues the emphasis on the inquiry process and the development of investigative skills and the nature of science. The inquiry instruction focuses on developing a student's understanding of:

-magnetism and magnetic forces -properties of matter, including solids, liquids and gases -plant and animal life cycles -living systems and their interactions with nonliving things -weather and weather patterns -effects of weather and seasonal change on plants, animals and the environment -the importance of plants as natural resources.
