AP European History is designed to be the equivalent of a two-semester college-level course in European history and western civilization. Students will investigate significant individuals, events, developments, and processes in four historical periods from approximately 1450 to the present. Students will develop skills, practices, and methods used by historians such as primary and secondary source analysis, crafting historical arguments, making historical comparisons, and utilizing reasoning to examine contextualization, causation, continuity, and change over time. The course is designed to prepare students to take the Advanced Placement test in May. Students may earn college credit through their performance on this assessment. This course is intended for 10th grade students, and it can be taken in lieu of World History II.
